This may interest many in our community. A new German law from August 2021 allows you to attain citizenship by “declaration.” You qualify if for example your originally German mother or grandmother lost her citizenship when she married an American and moved to the U.S. at some point. Or say you are descended from a formerly German national and never gained German citizenship. You do not need to live in Germany to qualify! There is no fee, except for notarizing the documentation you will need to present. This is an amazing new path to citizenship for me and I assume a number of others who may be interested in a path to life in Europe. The U.S. authorities are not involved in this process by the way.
